Chamonix Mont Blanc Trip
Posted on 4th August 2025
Memories to last a lifetime! It’s safe to say this week’s trip to Chamonix has probably been the best trip we have ever had the pleasure of running. An absolutely brilliant group of Seniors and an incredible location!
A round-up of the highlights of the trip:
Thursday

After flying from Edinburgh to Geneva we settled into our accommodation (Chamonix Lodge) before heading into the town centre for dinner and ice cream. Everyone was amazed by the stunning scenery in every direction.
Friday

On top of Europe! We started the day with a spectacular cable car journey to the summit of Aiguille du Midi (3,842m). The cable car was not for the faint hearted – it’s officially highest vertical ascent cable car in the world. The views were amazing with Europe’s tallest mountain Mont Blanc in the background. Those who were brave enough had the chance to “step into the void” – getting a photo standing in a glass case with a 1,000m drop underneath. In the afternoon we had some down time enjoying the Luge alpine coaster and some shopping.
Saturday

On Saturday we took the mountain train to Montenvers to explore the ice caves in the Mer de Glacé (the largest glacier in France) before swimming in the afternoon. Another great day.
Sunday

We finally got a clear day on both sides of the valley so took the gondola up to Le Brevent for stunning views across to Mont Blanc and Aiguille du Midi before some more swimming and ending the day with a lovely dinner in the town centre.
Monday

Our trip was almost at an end however not before few more shots on Luge Alpine Coaster for an adrenaline filled finale to an amazing holiday.
Thanks to all the leaders who made the trip possible and to our parent fundraising group for their efforts over the last two years to allow to do so many amazing activities.
A great experience and one that will live long in the memory of everyone who attended. Not yet in the Seniors? This is the sort of opportunities you have to look forward to in the years to come.
Where next? We can’t wait to start planning again!
