Three Seniors from 3rd Falkirk Boys’ Brigade have achieved the King’s Badge – the highest award in the BB.

Laird Campbell, Aidan Girvan and Ryan Jones have become the first 3rd Falkirk members to achieve the award since it was renamed the King’s Badge.

All three have been involved in the Boys’ Briagde from a young age. Ryan joined 3rd Falkirk 12 years ago in the Anchors, Laird joined the company in the Juniors from 1st Bothkenar and Carronshore and Aidan transferred in the in S2 following the closure of 1st Camelon.

In 2023 all three had the honour of representing the Boys’ Brigade on Remembrance Sunday at the National Service of Remembrance on Whitehall in London. They have played an active part in all 3rd Falkirk do including representing the Company in local and national competitions and enjoying trips from outdoor weekends at Scott Lodge and to visiting Chamonix Mont Blanc last summer.

As part of their King’s Badge journey they have become a key part of Juniors leadership team – leading activities and games and becoming great role models for the younger members.

The King’s Badge is the highest honour in the Boys’ Brigade, requiring candidates to complete a rigorous 2 year journey of personal and leadership development. To qualify, young men must dedicate at least 30 hours to volunteering within both their Company and the wider community, commit to six months of a physical activity and a personal skill, and complete two residential courses.

Russell Croal, Captain said:

“It is always a proud moment seeing our members progress through the company and achieve the BBs major awards. Aidan, Laird and Ryan thoroughly deserve their recognition, they are a credit to their parents and 3rd Falkirk.

“We are proud to be a thriving modern youth organisation with a well developed pathway from fun and games at primary school age to developing leadership skills and achieving major awards while at high school.”
